A New and Accurate Map of the World was originally published in 1626 in an atlas called Prospect of the Most Famous Parts of the World, by English cartographer John Speed. The highly-decorated map was often removed from the Atlas to be displayed as a piece of art. The map includes astronomical drawings and diagrams, mythical figures, and portraits of famous navigators Drake, Magellan, Cavendish and Van Der Noort. Coin’s obverse features the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II sculpted by Ian Rank-Broadley. Displayed in a presentation case with a numbered Certificate of Authenticity.
