The art of Iranian pottery contains the best traditions of Iranian sculpture, painting and architecture. Kashan is one of the centers of production of Iranian pottery. This settlement became known for innovative methods in the creation of pottery. Kashan is famous for having developed a special formula for double clay baking, which allowed Kashan to maintain the originality of the art of glazing. Ceramic slabs made of this type were widely spread in the 13th-14th centuries. A 13th century porcelain slab is one sample of Iranian pottery; it represents an octagonal star specific to Iranian culture, with pictures of the tree of life and speckled rabbits in the center. The edges of the slab carry Persian inscriptions taken from the epic poem “Shahnameh”. The Iranian porcelain slab is preserved in the British Museum (London, Great Britain). Obverse: the coat of arms of the Republic of Armenia and national ornaments. Reverse: the porcelain slab against the Iranian ornament. Designed by Harutyun Samuelian. Minted in the Mint of Poland. Series: Pottery of the World. Coat of Arms with three symbols to the left and right, all surrounded by legend. Pottery of the World. Republic of Armenia 2018. Enameled Iranian pottery in the form of an eight-pointed star showing a floral pattern. Please be aware of that when you order! Please check my other Armenian silver coins for sale.

There was one instance in my time as a collector where I sent coins in to be graded. I sent in two different lots of coins; these Brandenburg Gate Kookaburras and the Reverse Dragon Dollar Restrikes that are also listed in my store. Let’s just say there were significant pros and cons with the Kookaburras. The biggest negative was that these coins did not grade particularly well, and I made a rookie mistake by not having NGC cutoff grading at MS69. I wound up with one MS68 as a result (see my store). The huge positive, however, is that very few of these coins were graded and I have 12 of the 19 MS69s graded by NGC and 5 of the 6 MS70s! This listing, therefore is for one of the six MS70 1 oz Silver Brandenburg Gate Kookaburra coins graded by NGC. They are all Early Releases and I have listed all five that I own. Despite being slabbed, these coins may have very small milk spots. Finally, please note that this is a Royal Australian Mint coin, not a Perth Mint item. The serial number has been blacked out in the photo, but not on the actual slab. I get a lot of questions about this; I’ve seen this done to shield the serial number from potential counterfeiters. I don’t know if there’s any validity to this, but I’ve chosen to do it.
