Great Year and Mint Location, a Third Reich Historic Coin. A rare artifact, a tad smaller than the size of a US penny. The infamous symbol is intensionally marked out by me. Most were destroyed, melted down, after the war. A few; taken off soldiers, hoarded and smuggled. Only a few survived. Most WW2 coins were melted down and destroyed after the war. On one side is the Nazi “War Eagle” perched on a wreath which encircles the most dreaded and feared symbol of that time. The Nazis minted these coins in 7 different locations throughout Germany. In 1939 Hitler Succeeded by putting Poland under the swastika, and thus precipitated WW2. With war came many changes, the production of Nazi coins being just one. WW2 coincided with German mints ceasing production altogether of the higher end material Reichsmark Nazi coins. Further, most Reichspfennig Nazi coins were now produced in cheaper zinc. Production of Silver Nazi coins may have ceased with the start of WW2. Most were destroyed after the war along with the factories that made them. Mint locations are below. B = Wien (Vienna).
