Unique high relief designs representing key styles of art developed throughout history. Antique finish applied to impeccably executed series by one of the most historic and storied mints in the world – the Mint of Poland. Composition: Silver (Ag) with Agate inset. Weight: 28.28 g. Dimensions: 40 x 40 mm. Packaging: Outer cover/COA, case with self-locking presentation case. The Mint of Poland has issued a new coin in the Art That Changed the World series featuring the Romanesque Art. Refers to the art of Europe from approximately 1000 AD to the rise of the Gothic style in the 13th century, or later, depending on region. The preceding period is increasingly known as the Pre-Romanesque. The term was invented by 19th-century art historians, especially for Romanesque architecture, which retained many basic features of Roman architectural style, most notably round-headed arches, but also barrel vaults, apses, and acanthus-leaf decoration, but had also developed many very different characteristics. The diamond-shaped coin with an artistic motif, original theme and a multitude of decorations is a remarkable piece of art that will delight everyone. Its unique design fully reflects the Romanesque style. The unusual combination of easily perceptible proportions and a harmonious layout decorated with rich ornaments and agate inserts makes it an unforgettable high-class gift that every admirer of art shall enjoy. The coin is legal tender in Niue Island (New Zealand). Each coin is struck from 28.28 g of 99.9% pure silver in antique finish quality with agate inserts. The mintage is limited to only 3,333 pcs worldwide. The obverse features the passage between the narthex and the nave of the Basilica of St. Mary Magdalene in Vézelay decorated with agate inserts. On the right, the face value: 1 DOLLAR. The year of issue: 2014. At the bottom, a profile portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and inscriptions: NIUE ISLAND (the issuer), ELIZABETH II, m/w (the mint mark). The reverse shows the passage between the narthex and the nave of the Basilica of St. Below, an inscription: ROMANESQUE ART (the name of the coin).
