Britannina Two Pounds – 1997 sees the issue of silver Proof Britannia coins to commemorate the tercentenary of the introduction of the Britannia silver hallmarking standard. The reverse carries an impressive new design specially created by Philip Nathan who produced the original award-winning design for the Britannia gold coins of 1987. United Kingdom Two Pounds – the intricate reverse design by Bruce Rushin, comprising four concentric circles emanating from the heart of the coin, celebrates the development of technology from the Iron Age to today’s age of cyberspace. United Kingdom One Pound – Last in the current series of one pound coins, whose reverse design honour the four constituent parts of the United Kingdom, the 1997 one pound representing England and features the Royal Crest of three lions passant guardant. United Kingdrom 50p – the new-size smaller and lighter fifty pence coin, introduced in 1997, retains the original shape of its predecessor – an equilaternal curve heptagon.
